Training Program for Landscape Professionals

Smartscape is a program of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension (UACE). Founded in 1914, UACE's mission is to improve lives and communities by delivering research-based information through a statewide network of knowledgeable faculty, staff, and trained volunteers. Smartscape has been instructing landscape professionals since 1994 and is sponsored by the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association (AMWUA), Arizona Department of Water Resources, and Tucson Water. Smartscape offers seminars, workshops, and field demonstrations of irrigation planning and installation, rainwater harvesting, low-water-use plants, and other topics to teach the latest techniques for efficient irrigation and horticultural care for landscapes in the Sonoran Desert. Smartscape emphasizes sustainability and stewardship of natural resources in the maintenance of beautiful urban environments.
